Nancy D. Spector, MD

Dr. Spector is a Founder and Board Member of the I-PASS Institute, as well as Chair of the Executive Council of the I-PASS Study Group. She is a general pediatrician and a former Pediatric Residency Program Director at St. Christopher¹s Hospital for Children. She is currently Professor and the Associate Dean of Faculty Development at Drexel University College of Medicine and the Incoming Director of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM), a program to support, develop, and promote women leaders in academic medicine. As a nationally recognized educator, Dr.Spector has led numerous efforts in curriculum development, faculty and professional development, mentoring, and leadership skills development. She was the key leader in the curricular development of the original I-PASS Handoff Study and co-chaired the Education Executive Committee. In addition, she was the senior educational leader for both the Society for Hospital Medicine Mentored Implementation Program and the Patient and Family Centered I-PASS Study: Bringing I-PASS to the Bedside, in which she brought together hospitalists, medical educators, researchers, nurses, health literacy experts, and patients and families from across North America. She will continue to lead in many ways as the I-PASS Institute seeks to spread this evidence-based intervention to healthcare institutions worldwide.
